Tools Made Simple

GetResponse Review 2026: The Beginner-Friendly Email Tool We Actually Use

What it actually costs, what you get for free, and whether it’s the right first email tool for you.

Somewhere between “I should build an email list” and actually having one, most people get stuck picking software. There are dozens of options, they all claim to be the easiest, and none of the comparison pages agree with each other. We went through this ourselves, and GetResponse is the one we ended up recommending — so here’s the honest version of why.

Quick disclosure: we’re an affiliate for GetResponse, which means we may earn a commission if you sign up through a link on this page, at no extra cost to you. We only recommend tools we’d genuinely suggest to a friend, and this review is written the same way we’d write it if that link didn’t exist.

Why bother with email software at all?

If you’re relying on social media followers or search traffic alone, you’re building on land you don’t own — a platform can change its algorithm overnight and your reach disappears with it. An email list is the one audience you actually control. It’s also, quietly, one of the highest-converting tools in online income of any kind, whether that’s driving affiliate sales, promoting your own product, or just keeping people coming back to a blog or shop.

📧 You Own the List No algorithm decides who sees your message. It goes straight to their inbox.
🔒 It’s an Asset A list of real subscribers keeps producing value long after you build it.
Beginner-Friendly You don’t need technical skill to get a first automated email sequence running.

What GetResponse actually gives you

GetResponse has a genuinely usable free plan — up to 500 contacts and 2,500 emails a month, with a drag-and-drop email builder and one landing page included. No credit card required, and it doesn’t expire. That alone makes it a sensible place to start: you can build your first list without spending anything until it’s actually working.

New accounts also get a 30-day trial of the premium features, so you can test automation, landing pages, and the rest before deciding whether to pay for them.

Free $0 500 contacts 2,500 emails/mo 1 landing page
Starter $19/mo 1,000 contacts Unlimited sends Unlimited landing pages
Marketer $59/mo Visual automation Webinars (100 attendees) Multi-user access
Creator $69/mo Paid newsletters Paid courses Ecommerce tools

Pricing shown is for the lowest contact tier on each plan and billed monthly; annual billing is cheaper. Always check GetResponse’s own pricing page for current rates.

What actually stands out

Most email tools do email. GetResponse does email plus a few things most competitors charge extra for or don’t offer at all: built-in webinars (genuinely rare among email platforms — most require a separate tool entirely), landing pages and funnels without needing another piece of software, and built-in AI to help draft subject lines and campaign copy when you’re staring at a blank screen.

For anyone building an audience from scratch — which describes most people starting out in any of our six paths — having email, landing pages, and automation under one login instead of three separate subscriptions is a real simplification, not just a marketing line.

Where it’s not the best fit

Honesty matters more than a sale here. If you want the absolute cheapest possible starting point and don’t care about webinars or funnels, some competitors offer a larger free tier. And if you’re purely newsletter-focused with no interest in the extra features, a narrower tool built just for that might feel simpler. GetResponse earns its price by doing more than plain email — if you know you’ll only ever want plain email, that’s worth factoring in.

How to actually get started

Sign up for the free plan — no card required. Build one simple landing page or signup form. Write a short, three-email welcome sequence for new subscribers — who you are, what they’ll get from you, one useful piece of content. Then start growing the list from there. That’s genuinely enough to have a working email system, before you ever need to think about upgrading.
